Robert Cain was a 2012 Republican candidate for District 17 of the New Mexico House of Representatives.

Cain earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of New Mexico. He works as a trader in the financial markets, trading currencies, commodities and equities.[1]

In information submitted to Ballotpedia, Cain set out his political philosophy and the themes of his campaign as follows:[1]

"I believe in liberty, small government, personal sovereignty, strong defense, free markets, sound money, civil liberties and peace and prosperity.

I would like to create a greater economic environment in New Mexico. Establish better rational systems in economic freedom, smaller government, lower taxes, greater personal sovereignty, greater fiscal discipline, sound monetary theory, protection of state rights and a better environment for producers to move capital to New Mexico and create more jobs."

Cain ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico House of Representatives District 16. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012. He was defeated by incumbent Edward C. Sandoval (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
