Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Marquette's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • The National Debt: I will never vote for a budget that adds to our national debt. I will fight to slash government spending because I will be fighting for the future of my children and grandchildren. And, in doing so, I will be fighting for the future of your children and grandchildren. I owe nothing to special interests, and I will serve only the people of North Dakota.
  • The Federal Reserve: I will act quickly and persistently to audit the Federal Reserve and bring accountability to their actions. No private banking cartel with the power to confiscate wealth, from the private sector through inflation, should be allowed to operate secretly and without government oversight.
  • Gun Control: We need to do more to promote and strengthen the Second Amendment. I support both the open and conceal carry of handguns. I believe that a concealed handgun should be as much a part of a person’s daily attire as a handbag, wallet or a wrist watch. As Americans, we have a legal right and a moral obligation to protect ourselves, our property and the innocent people around us, at all times, from dangerous and violent persons who have no regard for gun regulations.
  • Gay Rights: I will oppose any legislation that seeks to alienate the LGBT community from the rest of humanity. The love and devotion they share with each other is as real and genuine as any. And, members of the LGBT community have the same natural rights to sanctify and celebrate their relationships in marriage as any other American.
  • Monetary Policy: The US dollar has not been backed by gold or silver since 1971. Since that time, the dollar has been backed solely by Treasury debt obligations. This unlawful monetary policy has been the principal driving force behind our economic troubles and national debt.
