Ronald "Ron" Fragale (b. August 3, 1950) is a Democratic member of the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 48. He was first appointed to the chamber on February 1, 2013.[1]

Fragale served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 1990 to 1998. Subsequently, Fragale served in the West Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 41 from 2001 to 2012. He served as Speaker Pro Tempore.

Biography

Fragale earned his B.A. from Davis and Elkins College in 1972. He went on to receive his M.A. from West Virginia University in 1974.

Fragale is an educator and head basketball coach at South Harrison High School/Washington Irving High School.[2]

Elections for the office of West Virginia House of Delegates will take place in 2014. A primary election took place May 13, 2014. The general election will take place on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 25, 2014. District 48 is represented by four delegates. Incumbent Richard Iaquinta, incumbent Timothy Miley, Joe Shaffer and Patsy Trecost II defeated incumbent Ron Fragale, Frank Angotti and Wayne Worth in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Danny Hamrick, Margaret Ann Bailey, Diana Bartley and Terry Waxman defeated Rick Wolfe, "Benjamin" Dan Franklin and Ed Randolph in the Republican primary. Iaquinta, Miley, Shaffer, Trecost, Hamrick, Bailey, Waxman and Bartley will face off in the general election.[3][4]

Fragale ran for re-election in the 2012 election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 48. Fragale advanced unopposed in the May 8 primary election and was defeated in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[5][6][7]

Fragale was re-elected to District 41. He was one of eight candidates running for four positions in District 41 on the ballot in the November 2, 2010 general election. He defeated Republicans Diana Bartley, William Griffith, Danny Hamrick, and Edward "Buddy" Randolph. The top four vote-getters were elected. He defeated Democrats Frank "Chunki" Angotti, and Anthony "Tony" Barberio in the May 11 primary.[8][9][10]
