Elections for the office of Maryland State Senate will consist of a primary election on June 24, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Russ Mirabile will face John Olszewski, Jr. in the Democratic primary, while Johnny Ray Salling is unopposed in the Republican primary. Scott M. Collier is running as an Independent.
Mirabile faced three Republican and three Democratic candidates in the general election. Democrats Ruth Baisden, Cal Bowman, Eric Bromwell, and Nichole Kirby and Republicans Joseph Boteler, III, John Cluster, Rani Merryman, Norma Secoura were also seeking the district's three seats in the House of Delegates. Mirabile was defeated by John Cluster, Joseph Boteler, III and Eric Bromwell in the general election.
