An effort to recall city council member Russell Schneider in Temple, Texas from his position was launched in late March 2014.[1]

Recall proponent arguments

Recall organizer Mari Paul has argued that Schneider should be recalled due to a conflict of interest. Schneider's construction business has been contracted for city projects.[1]

Official's response

Schneider dismissed the suggestion that he was involved in a conflict of interest. "I'm not ashamed to do business with the City of Temple. The charter says you can do business with the city, and I intend to keep doing that. I have nothing to hide," he said.[1]

The recall effort against Schneider arose from an earlier, failed attempt by Mari Paul to oust the entire city council. She will need to collect more than 3,100 signatures from registered voters in Schneider's district in order to trigger a recall election against him.[1]
