Scottsdale Budget Override (2010)

A Scottsdale Unified School District Budget Override ballot question was approved on the March 2010 ballot by voters in Scottsdale Unified School District, which is in Maricopa County, AZ. The question asked voters to approve a 15 percent budget override in the school district.[1][2]

Rep. Tom Boone, R-Peoria, was sponsoring the override that also replaced the current 5 percent override for K-3 funding, and 10 percent maintenance and operations override.

One of the reasons the bill was being proposed was because of the expense of elections. According to school district member Dave Peterson, a 15 percent override would save money. At the time of the election, Peterson estimated an expense of $100,000 per election.
