Sean Kipp was a Republican candidate in the September 13 special election for the New York State Assembly, District 144. The special election was called to fill the vacancy created when Sam Hoyt (D) resigned from the Assembly and accepted a senior position at Empire State Development Corporation.[1]

Ryan was defeated by Sean Ryan (D) in the September 13, 2011, special election. Kipp also ran on the Conservative Party ticket. Gregory Horn (G) also ran for the seat.[2]
