Issues

Political philosophy

Hansen submitted the following statement to Ballotpedia:

I hope to be able to return our rights that our current administration has taken away from the American people. I see a Democratic Senate that is dysfunctional. If we can get more financially conservative people in the US Senate, I believe we can turn our country around. I decided to run because all I saw in our government are criminals who are decimating our Constitution and the rights given to us by our Creator. I was a new grandmother and want to see my grandchild grow up in a free country. I no longer feel free and don't want my grandchild to feel like that.[5]

Reason for running

Hansen submitted the following statement to Ballotpedia:

I had seen many many comments on social media where people were saying we need to vote out the people in Washington and replace them with conservative people who value people over money. I agreed with that viewpoint, but I didn't want to do it. I thought someone else would do it. Then I developed a severe post operative infection after a relatively minor abdominal procedure, and I believe was within 24 hours of dying. I was in the hospital for nearly a month and it took 3 months before I was able to work again. Against the odds, I survived. When I recovered, I had to ask myself why God didn't want me. Because I was so sick, I was praying to die. I figured that there was something else He wanted me to do. The only thing I was passionate about was the state of our country so I decided that perhaps that was why I survived; so, I decided to run against Dick Durbin who never votes for anything that I support. I sought and got the Libertarian nomination for US Senate.[5]
