A vote about whether to recall Michael Anne Holland and Sheila Castellini from their positions on the Board of Education of Raton Public Schools in New Mexico took place on April 30, 2013. Michael Anne Holland was recalled. Sheila Castellini, who was also target of the recall effort, resigned from her seat prior to the election.[1][2]

The recall effort was led by Bob Stuart and Randy Hestand. Recall supporters alleged Castellini and Holland had violated the school district's Code of Ethics, had shown a lack of professionalism in dealing with school staff and other board members, and had engaged in "micro-managing."[3]

Both Castellini and Holland were first elected in 2007, and then re-elected in 2011. The next regular election was scheduled for 2015.[3]

On February 11, 2013 recall supporters submitted petition signatures to the Colfax County Clerk’s Office. Recall supporters needed 41 signatures for each petition to trigger a recall election, but they submitted 152 against Castellini and 140 against Holland. The County Clerk's office verified enough signatures to trigger the recall election.

In March 2013 Sheila Castellini emailed her resignation to district Superintendent Dave Willden.[2][1]
