Sherra Lane
Sherra Hillman Lane (b. October 27, 1944) is a former Democratic member of the Mississippi House of Representatives, representing District 86 from 2005 to 2016. She was first elected to the chamber in a special election in October 2005.
Biography
Lane earned her B.A. and M.Ed. from the University of Southern Mississippi, and J.D. from the University of Mississippi. Her professional experience includes working as an attorney, farmer, social worker, and teacher.[1]

Elections
2015
Elections for the Mississippi House of Representatives took place in 2015. A primary election was held on August 4, 2015. The general election took place on November 3, 2015. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 27, 2015.[2] Incumbent Sherra Hillman Lane was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Shane Barnett was unopposed in the Republican primary. Barnett defeated Lane in the general election.
2011
On November 8, 2011, Lane won re-election to District 86 of the Mississippi House of Representatives. She defeated Mack Carney in the August 2 primary and defeated Republican Mark Purvis in the November 8 general election.[3][4]

On November 6, 2007, Lane was re-elected in District 86, defeating Republican challenger Albert Busby in the general election.[5]
