South Dakota, nicknamed "The Mount Rushmore State," is bordered by Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, Nebraska, Montana and Wyoming. It was the 40th state admitted to the Union. While Pierre is South Dakota’s capital, Sioux Falls is South Dakota’s largest city.

South Dakota has two members of the U.S. Senate, one member of the U.S. House of Representatives, 35 members of the State Senate and 70 members of the House of Representatives.

Judgepedia presents the State of South Dakota

The structure of the South Dakota judicial system is laid out in Article V of the state constitution. The state court system is made up of the South Dakota Supreme Court, the South Dakota Circuit Courts and the South Dakota Magistrate Courts.

The federal court system is made up of the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota and the District Court of South Dakota Bankruptcy Court. Appeals from these courts go to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
