South Dakota Legislative Research Council
The South Dakota Legislative Research Council is a nonpartisan, all-purpose legislative service agency serving the members and staff of the South Dakota Legislature.
Governance
The Legislative Research Council is governed by an executive director who oversees the day to day operations of the council.[1]
Divisions
Code Counsel division
The Code Counsel Division is responsible for all revisions to the South Dakota statutes and administrative rules. Code Counsel is responsible for finalizing all bill drafts to make sure they are sound with state laws and the South Dakota Constitution[2]
Fiscal Analysis division
The Fiscal Analysis Division is responsible for providing all fiscal research and analysis. Also, the division is responsible for research and review of the state budget along with producing fiscal impact statements.[1]
Research Analysis division
Staff in the Research Analysis division are responsible for short-term and in-depth legislative research and studies. Also, a legislative library is maintained by Research Analysis which is responsible for keeping legislative records too.[1]
