An effort to recall council members Bev Dixson, Erin Kopkowski and Joe Ryzyi in South Lyon, Michigan from their positions was launched in January 2014. Proponents spearheaded the recall effort due to their dissatisfaction with council's dismissal of City Manager David Murphy.[1]

Resident Rich Perry started a Facebook group through which he announced the intention to initiate recall proceedings against Dixson, Kopkowski and Ryzyi. Perry said that, as of January 14, 2014, petition language had been drafted and would be submitted to the county clerk's office for approval soon. If the petition language is approved, recall proponents will begin gathering signatures. If they collect enough valid signatures, a recall election will be scheduled or added to an existing ballot.[1]
