Spencer J. Cox is the 8th and current Lieutenant Governor of Utah. Cox, a Republican, has served in this position since October 16, 2013. He was named to replace retiring Lt. Gov. Greg Bell, who left for financial reasons.[1]

Cox previously served as a member of the Utah House of Representatives, representing District 58. He was elected to the chamber in 2012 and served until being sworn-in as lieutenant governor.[2]

Biography

Following his graduation from law school, Cox was a law clerk to Federal District Judge Ted Stewart. He then began his law career at the firm of Fabian and Clendenin in Salt Lake City. Leaving that position to move back to his hometown of Fairview, Cox became Vice President of CentraCom, a rural telecommunications company. There he served on the city council and as mayor before joining the Sanpete County Commission. He was serving on the Commission when he was elected to the Utah House of Representatives in 2012.[3]

The state Republican Party selected Sanpete County Commissioner Jon Cox to replace Spencer Cox.[4][5]
