ALBANY, New York: A libel suit against ‘’Slate magazine and ex-Governor Eliot Spitzer was dismissed. William Gilman, a former executive of Marsh & McLennan, sued Spitzer over a column he wrote. The column did not mention Gilman by name, but mentioned a case he was involved in. The case involved kickbacks from insurers and rigging prices and was settled out of court. Gilman was originally indicted in the case, but his conviction was overturned in 2010. The judge has not released his written opinion statement yet, but did dismiss the case.[1]
