Stephen Hawley is a Republican member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 139. He was first elected to the chamber in a special election in February 2006. As of the 2014 session, he serves as Assistant Minority Leader; he is a former Minority Whip and Deputy Minority Whip.

Hawley's political experience also includes being a member of the Genesee County Legislature.

Biography

Hawley earned his B.S. in Education from the University of Toledo. His professional experience includes being the co-owner of The Insurance Center, being the owner and operator of Hawley Farms, and working as a real estate agent. Hawley served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserves, and he served in the Ohio Army National Guard.[1]

Hawley ran in the 2012 election for New York State Assembly District 139. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on September 13, 2012. He also ran on the Conservative Party and Independence Party of New York State tickets. He defeated Libertarian Mark E. Glogowski in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
