Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Larchuk's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Plain Talk from Steve Larchuk: Unlike the career politicians in Washington, Steve is not afraid to tell you what he believes and what he will do as your Congressman. What follows are not the typical vanilla, bland, non-committal “I love baseball and apple pie”, “you are my bosses”, “I work for you”, statements career politicians feed you all the time.
  • Women’s Equality and Right to Self Determination: We have all been surrounded by confident and talented women. My mother was a hard working single parent long before the media and politicians paid attention to such sacrifices and struggles. My late wife Frances became a medical doctor at a time when ambitious women were rare in the medical profession and she had to endure outrageous discrimination and even physical assault by male doctors who resented her presence.
  • Rebuilding the American Middle Class: It is interesting to watch the would-be Republican candidates for president tripping over themselves, trying to explain how they will stand up for the shrinking middle class.
  • A Better Congress will do all of the following:: Lose the “every man for himself”, philosophy that the extreme right wing has adopted as its governing creed. Instead, Congress should embrace what Middle America has always known, we are all in this together.
  • Islamic Violent Extremism: What motivates some Muslim young men, and even some Muslim young women, to end their lives in a spasm of extreme violence is impossible for us to understand. Of course it also defies understanding of many mainstream Muslims who speak out forcefully against such heinous violence and in favor of peace.
