Biography

Hamilton earned her B.A. in History from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and her M.P.A. from the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. Her professional experience includes working as the Executive Director of Wilmington Downtown, Inc. from 2001 to 2007. She is the founder and CEO of Hamilton Planning.[1]

The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 28, 2014. Incumbent Susi Hamilton was unopposed in the Democratic primary and is unchallenged in the general election.[2][3]

Hamilton ran for re-election in 2012. She defeated James A. Knox in the May 8, 2012, Democratic primary. She defeated Louis Harmati (R) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[4][5][6]

On November 2, 2010, Hamilton won election to the North Carolina House of Representatives. Hamilton defeated James Utley in the May 4 Democratic primary by a margin of 1,753-1,692. Hamilton defeated Mary Dawson (R) in the general election on November 2.[7][8]
