Tacoma School District Replacement Levy, 2 (February 2010)

There were two Tacoma School District Levy measures on the February 9 ballot in Pierce County for voters in the Tacoma school district.

Both measure were approved
Proposition 1

  • YES 22,645 (65.67%)Approveda
  • NO 11,836 (34.33%)

Proposition 2

  • YES 20,583 (59.69%)Approveda
  • NO 13,903 (40.31%)[1]

The first measure sought to renew an existing levy that was set to expire in order to further funding educational programs and school operation costs in the district. The levy will be in place for a further four years and will be at a rate of $3.63 per $1,000 of assessed value.

The second proposition sought to add an additional tax to the existing levy at a rate of $.75 increasing over the six years it would be in place. The money generated from this addition will go towards facility improvements and technology upgrades throughout the district.[2]
