CARSON CITY, Nevada: A coalition is forming in the state of Nevada, with the purpose of proposing multiple questions to voters about taxes.[1]

The coalition, which according to reports, would be broad and made up of business representatives, labor and education leaders, and lobbyists representing major Nevada industries. Discussions have been held pertaining to potential tax measures being presented on the ballot, but talks have been preliminary with no specific taxes revealed as of yet.

According to Danny Thompson, executive secretary/treasurer of the AFL-CIO, “I’ve lost all faith in the ability of the Legislature to fund government. The only solution is to go to the people...I know I’ve said that in the past, but I think everyone now agrees, with the two-thirds requirement (to raise taxes), the minority is controlling the desires of the majority."
