The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 31, 2014. Incumbent Andy Kerr was unopposed in the Democratic primary, while Tony Sanchez defeated Mario Nicolais in the Republican primary. Kerr defeated Sanchez in the general election.[1][2][3]
