This note is to let you know that before you make a significant change to an article, you are strongly encouraged to discuss the change on the article's talk page before making it.

It is especially advisable to discuss changes on the talk page when you plan to:

  • Remove content that is not false or misleading.
  • Alter content you believe isn't neutral or balanced, but where a reasonable person might disagree with you about that.

It is generally not expected to discuss a change on an article's talk page in advance when you are:

  • Fixing an error
  • Updating information
  • Adding new information that is consistent with Ballotpedia's writing guidelines for specific kinds of articles, and that is accurate and well-sourced.
