On November 5, 1996, Dick Durbin won election to the United States Senate. He defeated Al Salvi (R), Steven H. Perry (Reform), Robin J. Miller (L), Chad Koppie (U.S. Taxpayers) and James E. Davis (Natural Law) in the general election.[1]
