Description
This is the format for categories of state executive election candidates.

The following is the basic text to paste:

{{Seocandidate|Year=|Status=|Office=|Primary=|General=|Unopposedprimary=|Unopposed=|Open=|New office=}}

Then, parameters are filled in and completed as the election goes along. An example of a basic challenger:

{{Seocandidate|Year=2012|Status=challenger|Office=Treasurer|Primary=Y}}

A treasurer candidate who lost a primary:

{{Seocandidate|Year=2012|Status=challenger|Office=Treasurer|Primary=L}}
{{Seocandidate|Year=2012|Status=|Office=|Potential=|Primary=|General=|Unopposed=|Open=|Unopposedprimary=}}

If you are using the template on a page with prior year category templates, the suggestion is to incorporate headings. Such as this format:

<!--YEAR categories-->
{{Seocandidate|Year=|Status=|Office=|Potential=|Primary=|General=|Unopposed=|Open=|Unopposedprimary=}}
