This is a usage page for the {{Wayback}}.

The Wayback template is to be used for any links that are no longer active that have been archived by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine.

  • The link created will send the readers to the archived version of the site, and a sentence will automatically generate beneath the link.
  • The sentence will provide a link to the Wayback Machine service as well as let the readers know what date this version of the site was captured on.

Usage

Here is the code to copy and fill in:

}}

|ref = [Add a standard reference here, within brackets, with the web.archive url, title, and date accessed. (Today's date)]
|date = For this date, add the date the archived link is from. 
}}

Example

A completed template for a 2009 campaign website link will look like this:

|ref = [http://web.archive.org/web/20091012140926/https://www.bobmcdonnell.com/  Bob McDonnell's Campaign Website]
|date = October 12, 2009 
}}

Which will produce:


Bob McDonnell's Campaign Website
