The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was January 28, 2014. Incumbent Terry Mills ran unopposed in the Democratic primary, while J. Alex LaRue defeated Richard Treitz in the Republican primary. Mills defeated LaRue in the general election. Amber Rogers Dones (R) withdrew before the primary.[6][7][8]
