AUSTIN, Texas: Two days prior to the United States Justice Department filing suit against the state of Arizona, challenging the constitutionality of their new law targeting illegal immigrants, Attorney General of Texas Greg Abbott has called upon President Barack Obama to "step up" and secure the border between Texas and Mexico.[1][2] Abbott's statement came as he inspected the damage at El Paso City Hall after shots, likely fired between opposing drug cartels in Juarez, Mexico, struck the building; no one has been reported injured. And in spite of the President's call for 1,200 National Guard troops to be place around the U.S.- Mexico border by the end of next month, the top law enforcer in Texas remains unimpressed, insisting that Obama simply "doesn't get" the gravity of the situation.
