Cox ran for Oregon Treasurer in 2012. He won the May 15 Republican primary as a write-in candidate. He will face incumbent Ted Wheeler (D), Cameron Whitten (Progressive Party), John Mahler (Libertarian), and Michael Paul Marsh (Constitution Party) in the general election on November 6, 2012, which Wheeler won.[1]
