Vanessa Hickman is the current Arizona Commissioner of Lands. She was appointed to the position in November 2012 by Governor Jan Brewer.[1]


Hickman, an attorney by trade, became a member of the State Bar of Arizona in 2004. She practiced law with a number of firms including Withey Morris, PLC, Wilenchik & Barness, P.C. and Wilcon & Wilcox, P.C. Hickman began serving in Gov. Jan Brewer's administration in May 2009. In October 2009, she was appointed as Deputy State Land Commissioner and became head of the department in 2012.[2]
