MONTPELIER, Vermont: The Vermont Judicial Bureau has received paperwork for 29 marijuana citations since it was decriminalized on July 1. The actual number of tickets is most likely higher, because officers have a month to file the paperwork after issuing a ticket.[1]
The new law decriminalized marijuana possession up to one ounce. As a result, people found with small amounts of marijuana are given a ticket similar to a traffic ticket, rather than facing criminal charges.[1]
