Vernon Prevailing Wages Paid on City Works Projects, Measure B (November 2011)
Measure B amends the Vernon City Charter to mandate Vernon's continued compliance with California's prevailing wage laws for public works projects.
Policies governing city employees in Vernon attracted interest from voters in the city when it was learned that Vernon's former city manager, who faces criminal charges, is being paid a pension of $500,000 a year.
Measure B was one of four ballot measures on the November 8, 2011 ballot related to governance issues in the City of Vernon. The others were Measure A (term limits), Measure C (at-will employment) and Measure D (city administrator).
The editors of Eastern Group Publications endorsed a "yes" vote on Measure B.
November 22 election
After the November 8 election on Measure A (term limits), B (prevailing wages), C (at-will employment) and D (city administrator), Vernon voters will head to the ballot again on November 22, 2011, at which time they will vote on Measure E, Vernon Housing Commission Requirement, F: Vernon Independent Reform Monitor, G: Vernon Vacancies Filled by Special Elections, H: Vernon Prohibition on City Council Members Increasing Their Own Compensation, I: Vernon Use of Revenue from the Light and Power Fund and J: Vernon Open and Competitive Bidding Process.
