MCLEAN, Virginia: US Senatorial candidates Tim Kaine and George Allen debated before the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce this week. Both candidates used the debate as a chance to talk about their favorite issues.
Kaine, the Democratic candidate, called for bipartisanship and condemned Mitt Romney's recent remarks about the 47 percent as "divisive." George Allen focused his remarks on the economy, citing his record as a job-creating governor. Both candidates are former governors of Virginia, and George Allen is a former US senator, serving from 2000 to 2006. This closely contested race is one of a few that will determine which party takes control of the Senate in November.
