The Virginia School Division Amendment was not on the November 4, 2014 ballot in Virginia as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment. The measure would have established a statewide school division to oversee charter schools if the request for a charter school is turned down by the local school board.
The measure was sponsored by Delegate Greg Habeeb (R-8).
Path to the ballot
A majority vote is required in two successive sessions of the Virginia General Assembly for an amendment to be placed on the ballot. The proposed amendment was not voted on in two successive session and therefore was not placed on the 2014 ballot.
