BISMARK, North Dakota: The state of North Dakota won't be seeing the voter-approved State Legacy Fund for a few months. The measure, one of two questions to appear on the ballot, was clearly approved by voters on November 2, 2010 by more than 60%.

The proposal specifically called for the creation of a state legacy fund, also known as a "rainy day fund," for the deposit of certain oil and gas tax revenues.

According to the secretary of state's office the measure isn't scheduled to go into effect until June 30, 2011. An analysis of 2010's approved constitutional amendments reveals that North Dakota is the second to last state to see approved amendments go into effect.

Measure 1 added a new section to Article X of the North Dakota Constitution. The new section can be read here.
