This measure sought to renew the current library levy which is set at a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for the operational costs of the library in the city.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the previously approved millage on one-half mill (.50 mills) which is equal to $.50 for each $1,000 of taxable value on the real and personal property subject to taxation be renewed by the City of Watervliet for the period of 2012,2013,2014,2015 inclusive for the purpose of paying for library services within the City; and shall the City levy such renewal at one-half mill (.50) mills which is equal to $.50 cents for every $1,000 of taxable real and personal property subject to taxation, thereby raising in the first calendar year approximately $15,360.96.[3]
