West Bend school district referendum (2007)
Proposed use of West Bend school bond issue
The proposed $119 million dollar issue would have been raised and allocated to build a new high school and various capital improvements.
Increase in property taxes
The sole grassroots opposition to the bond referendum was Americans for Prosperity Foundation which educated voters about the size of the referendum and impact on property taxes. The free-market group's educational phone calls were called into question and a complaint was filed with the West Bend District Attorney under allegations that Americans for Prosperity would have had to file as an independent campaign committee. The allegations failed due to the message not advocating a yes or no vote for the referendum.
