This measure was defeated
- YES 3,735 (44.19%)
- NO 4,718 (55.81%)
This measure sought to replace the current school levy which is set to expire with one set at a rate of $3.59 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further two years in order to continue to pay for general fund maintenance and operational costs in the district. School officials expect further cuts from the state and this levy would have helped with those proposed losses. The Yakima Herald had given its support behind the measure, noting that the schools need to money in order to ensure continued services and opportunities for students in the district.
