West Virginia US Senate special election cost reached over $3 million
By Kyle Maichle
The August 2010 special primary election resulted in a total cost of $3,081,401. The West Virginia Legislature authorized $3 million in funding to cover the costs of the election. All 55 West Virginia counties will receive reimbursement from the $3,081,401 incurred by the state.
Most of the money will go to counties paying their poll workers. Another portion of the money will go towards the printing costs of the ballots used in the election.
