A Windermere Town Charter Amendment measure was on the January 31, 2012 ballot in the town of Windermere which is in Orange County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 612 (71.25%)Approveda
  • NO 247 (28.75%)[1]

This measure sought to amend the town charter so that the 122 year old town school house would remain at its present location. The town had sought to move the schoolhouse to the town center but residents fought to keep the schoolhouse at its current location in order to keep the building on the National Register of Historic Places. The town also voted to restore the schoolhouse in order to keep it updated. Residents sought this amendment so that in the future there would be protections to keep the schoolhouse where it is.[2]
