Wisconsin senators seek end to Supreme Court elections
MADISON, Wisconsin: Elections to the state's high court may be coming to an end. In an effort to reduce "influence by special interest money," Sens. Dale Schultz and Tim Cullen propose the creation of a judicial selection committee.
Specifically, the proposed legislatively-referred constitutional amendment would create a judicial selection commission, selected by the legislature. The commission would recommend five candidates to the governor, who would proceed to make the final selection with input from the Senate.
