Boise, Idaho: Yesterday, Idaho voters nominated candidates in eight contested primary races - six Republican and two Democratic - to send to the general election. All four incumbents who faced challenges will advance to the November ballot, including Gov. Butch Otter, Lt. Gov. Brad Little, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden and Controller Brandon Woolf. Woolf's victory was uncertain until the following evening, with challenger Todd Hatfield on his tail until the very end. When race was finally called in Woolf's favor, the vote total showed him beating Hatfield by fewer than 2,500 votes, or less than two percentage points.

The GOP primary for Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction was also too close to call until 100% of precincts had reported results the day after polls closed. In the end, high school principal Sherri Ybarra eeked out a win over her three opponents. She will face uncontested Democratic nominee Jana Jones in the general election to replace retiring Superintendent Tom Luna.

Incumbent Treasurer Ron Crane (R) was unopposed and will face Democrat Deborah Silver in November. Silver won in a landslide yesterday over her one opponent, W. Lane Startin, for the chance to take on Crane.

The other open seat this year is for Idaho Secretary of State, which incumbent Ben Ysursa is leaving behind at the end of his term. Lawerence Denney overtook three other Republican candidates for his party's nomination. Denney will square off with Democrat Holli High Woodings, who faced no primary challengers, on November 4.

With 100% of precincts reporting, all eight races have now been called. The unofficial results are as follows:[1]
