Wendell 'Walking' Mitchell is a Democratic member of the Alabama State Senate, representing the 30th District since 1982. In 2007 he became Deputy President Pro Tempore. Mitchell received a B.S. from Auburn University and a J.D. from the University of Alabama.

Mitchell lost his re-election bid to the 30th District Seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. Bryan Taylor defeated him in the November 2 general election.[2]

2006

On November 7, 2006, Mitchell won re-election to the 30th District Seat in the Alabama State Senate, defeating opponent Joan Reynolds (R).[3]

Mitchell raised $514,349 for his campaign, while Reynolds raised $960,314.[4]
