2011 legislative session gets under way in Mississippi
Prior to the start of the session, Gov. Haley Barbour announced that Stion Corp., based in San Jose, California, plans to locate a 100-megawatt solar panel production facility in Hattiesburg. Officials have said the facility could provide up to 1,000 jobs over the next six years. In order to help facilitate the project, the legislature is hoping to pass a bill on the first day which would provide $75 million to Stion though the Mississippi Industry Incentive Financial Revolving Fund.
