Abbie Cornett (1964-) is a member of the Nebraska Unicameral representing District 45. She was first elected in 2004, and was re-elected in 2008.

Background

Born August 22, 1966 in Omaha, Nebraska, Sen. Cornett is a former police officer from Bellevue, Nebraska. She is a Graduate of Nebraska Law Enforcement Academy, 1993 and Bellevue University (B.S. in criminal justice), 2003.[1] Cornett is also a certified handgun instructor.[2] She is currently married to Mark Stranglen with three children and is known to be Episcopal.

Education

Abbie Cornett attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha, graduated from the Nebraska Law Enforcement Academy in 1993, and earned her Bachelors degree in criminal justice from Bellevue University in 2003.

Professional Experience

Abbie Cornett worked as a police officer for the Omaha Police Department from 1992 to 2002.

Political Experience

Abbie Cornett joined the Nebraska State Legislature as a senator in 2004.

Abbie Cornett is involved with a number of organizations, including the Bellevue Kiwanis Club, Nebraska Association of Women Police, Altrusa International of Bellevue, Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, Optimist International of Bellevue, National Association of Women Police, and the Fraternal Order of Police.
