From Ballotpedia
A Aberdeen City Garden Project Referendum was voted on March 1, 2012 in the city of Aberdeen.
This measure was approved
- YES 45,301
- NO 41,175 [1]
The referendum asked residents if they wanted to support a £140m redevelopment project of the city gardens or leave them as they are now. As of February 28, turn out for the vote had been estimated at 50% of voters. Opponents to the project had stated that the project was wrong for the community and there was a risk to the city in that it could end up costing more in the long run. Though proponents, two people specifically, had already promised their own finances to the project should it be approved.[2]
