Campaign themes

Nazarian's campaign website listed the following issues:[2]

  • Education
Excerpt: "As our Assemblyman, I’ll make sure that the Proposition 98 guaranteed funding for K-14 schools in our state is the last option on the chopping block during the budget battles. Sacramento’s irresponsible leadership has left our schools and students without the resources they need to be competitive in the 21st century job market."
  • Natural Resources and Sustainability
Excerpt: "California has the highest population of any state in the United States and has an enormously productive agricultural sector. Without major investment in our water infrastructure in the next few years, there simply won’t be enough water to go around. "
  • Economic Development and Jobs
Excerpt: "Throughout the 20th century, visionary California leaders like Pat Brown and William Mulholland invested wisely to build an infrastructure that continues to provide a high quality of life for people in the Valley and throughout our state"

Legislative scorecards are used to evaluate elected public officials based on voting record. Some scorecards are created by political advocacy groups with a focus on specific issues, while others are developed by newspapers and are broad in scope. Scorecards are meant to be used as a tool for voters to have a quick picture of whether their views align with a particular legislator's record.

Because scorecards can be specific to particular issues or general to a state’s legislative term, for example, each report should be considered on its own merits. Each entity that publishes these reports uses different methodologies and definitions for the terms used.

An overview for scorecards in all 50 states can be found on this page. To contribute to the list of Arizona scorecards, email suggestions to
