The Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee is a standing committee of the South Dakota House of Representatives.

Per Section H3-1 of the House Rules, committees of the South Dakota House of Representatives are chosen by the Speaker of the House in consultation with the Minority Leader. The rules do not specify when or how often committees are assigned. The Speaker of the House will appoint the chair and vice chair of each committee. The Speaker and the Speaker Pro Tempore will serve as members of the Legislative Procedure Committee, with the The Speaker serving as its chair.[1]

Function

The Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee deals with bills relating to the production and distribution of agricultural products; soil conservation; animals and livestock; the state fair; regulation of grain elevators, pesticide and fertilizer dealers and livestock auctions; and brand inspection. Bills relating to game, fish and parks; mining; water development and irrigation; forestry; environmental protection; energy conservation; trespass laws; and nuclear waste disposal.[2][3]
