The Alabama Constitution was ratified in 1901. At more than 800 amendments and 310,000 words, it is the world's longest constitution. It is said to be approximately forty times the length of the U.S. Constitution.
Also known as "the Heart of Dixie,” Alabama’s capital is Montgomery, but its largest city by population is Birmingham.
