BIRMINGHAM, Alabama: After a long debate through the night earlier this week, the Alabama House of Representatives passed a $1.39 billion General Fund budget.[1]
If implemented, the budget would likely mean hundreds of layoffs for state workers after cuts were made to nearly every non-education agency.[1]
The budget is $430 million than its predecessor.[1]
