MONTGOMERY, Alabama: The Alabama Secretary of State's office will be decided on by voters in the state on November 2, 2010. The office, currently held by Beth Chapman, has one other opponent besides the incumbent. That opponent is Democrat Scott Gilliland. The deadline for filing nominating signatures was April 2, 2010.

Incumbent Chapman first won election as the state's secretary of state in 2006. She ran unopposed in the Republican primary election. In the general election contest, Chapman faced Democratic challenger Nancy L. Worley, winning by 693,334 (57.6%) votes to 509,797 (42.3%) votes.[1]
